What is the best time to visit Madagascar?

The best time is during the dry season from April to November:

  • April-May: End of rainy season, lush landscapes
  • June-August: Coolest weather, ideal for trekking
  • September-October: Perfect weather, active wildlife
  • November: Start of rains but still good for travel

Avoid December-March due to heavy rains and cyclone risk.

Do I need a visa to visit Madagascar?

Yes, most visitors need a visa. You can obtain a tourist visa on arrival at the airport (up to 90 days), online before travel through the e-visa system, or at a Malagasy embassy. Cost is approximately €30-40 depending on length of stay.

What vaccinations do I need?

Recommended vaccinations include Hepatitis A and B, Typhoid, Tetanus, Rabies (for extended stays), and Yellow Fever (if coming from an endemic country). Consult your travel doctor 6-8 weeks before departure.

Is Madagascar safe to travel?

Yes, Madagascar is generally safe for tourists. Use common sense, don't display valuables openly, use registered guides, avoid walking alone at night in cities, and follow your guide's advice at all times.

Will I definitely see lemurs?

While we cannot guarantee sightings (wildlife is unpredictable), our tours visit parks and reserves where lemurs are commonly seen. Most travelers see multiple lemur species including Indri, ring-tailed lemurs, sifakas, and more. Our expert guides know the best locations and times.

When is the best time for whale watching?

Humpback whales migrate to Madagascar from July to September, with peak activity in August and September. Sainte Marie Island is the premier destination with a 95%+ sighting rate during peak season.

What other wildlife will I see?

Madagascar is home to unique biodiversity including 100+ lemur species (all endemic), half the world's chameleon species, 300+ bird species (60% endemic), marine life like dolphins and sea turtles, and various reptiles.

What's included in the tour price?

Most tours include accommodation, most meals, private 4x4 transportation, expert English-speaking guides, all park entrance fees, all activities mentioned in itinerary, and domestic flights (where applicable). Exclusions: International flights, visas, travel insurance, alcoholic beverages, personal expenses, tips.

Can I customize my itinerary?

Yes! We specialize in bespoke tours. Contact us with your preferences, and we'll create a personalized itinerary tailored to your interests, fitness level, and travel dates.

What type of accommodation can I expect?

We use carefully selected mid-range lodges and hotels offering private rooms with ensuite bathrooms, hot showers, comfortable beds with mosquito nets, and on-site restaurants. In remote areas, basic eco-lodges or camping may be necessary.

How do I book a tour?

  6. Pay remaining balance 60 days before departure
What is your cancellation policy?
  • More than 60 days before: Deposit non-refundable, transferable to a future booking
  • 31-60 days before: 25% of total tour cost is retained
  • 15-30 days before: 50% of total tour cost is retained
  • Less than 15 days: 100% of total tour cost is retained(no refund)

We recommend comprehensive travel insurance.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept bank transfer (preferred), credit cards (Visa, Mastercard),(subject to fees)

🏥 Health & Safety
Is travel insurance mandatory?

Yes, comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory for all tours. Your policy must cover medical expenses, emergency evacuation, trip cancellation, lost baggage, and adventure activities. Proof of insurance is required before tour commencement.

Do I need malaria medication?

Malaria is present in Madagascar. We strongly recommend consulting your doctor about malaria prophylaxis, especially for tours visiting rainforest and coastal areas.

What should I pack?

Essential items include lightweight breathable clothing, sturdy hiking boots, rain jacket, insect repellent (DEET 30%+), sunscreen SPF 50+, first-aid kit, binoculars, camera with zoom lens, power bank, and personal medications. We provide a detailed packing list with your booking confirmation.

Will I have internet access?
  • Cities: Good 4G coverage, Wi-Fi in hotels
  • Towns: 3G coverage, limited Wi-Fi
  • Remote areas: No coverage (Masoala, Tsingy)

We recommend purchasing a local SIM card (YAS,Orange or Airtel) for better coverage.

What currency should I bring?

The local currency is Malagasy Ariary (MGA). Bring Euros or USD to exchange at banks or official bureaus. Credit cards are accepted in major hotels/restaurants. ATMs are available in cities but limited in remote areas. Bring cash for remote areas and souvenirs.

Should I tip guides and drivers?

Tipping is customary but not mandatory. Suggested amounts: Guide €10-15/day, Driver €8-10/day, Restaurant staff 10% if service charge not included.
